Defaults affect new fields. Use Apply Selected Appearance to explicitly change selected existing fields.
Layout & Tab Order
Row order writes the standard PDF page tab-order flag. Viewer support may vary. Workspace field order can also be sorted above; it is not a promise of identical behavior in every reader.
Copies use unique names and independent values. Existing multiple widgets of the same source field retain their shared value.
Local Form Data
Match exact field names. Review the proposed changes before applying. Exported JSON can contain private form data; keep it safe.
Schema import appends independent fields after review. It never silently replaces source fields.

Output & Compatibility
Flattening makes all supported fields static and is difficult to reverse. It is unavailable while unsupported or signature fields remain. Flattening and deleting fields are not redaction and may leave original values in PDF objects.
Original page dimensions, rotation, text, images, bookmarks, and non-widget annotations are retained by editing the source AcroForm directly. Changed fields receive standard supported appearances with self-hosted fonts. Review the saved PDF for font/layout compatibility.
